Phesheya-Racing and the beat route
We have now been bashing into a south easterly breeze and rough seas for 24 hours and the forecast seems to be more of the same.
The logbook seems to sum it all up quite well:
00H00 Tacked towards Bull Rock
01H00 Tacked back out to sea
03H15 Tacked,Dolphins following for the last hour or so
04H00 Tacked 05H00 Tacked 06H00 Tacked again
10H00 – 11H00 Reefed main and staysail
12H00 – 13H00 Tacked
14H00 Dolphins.
Preparing to tack Going upwind gets really boring really quickly! There really isn’t much more to say as life is stripped to the basics of eating, sleeping and holding tight as the boat lurches off the millionth wave. The only highlight yesterday was passing close to a large whale. Not sure of the species again but it was moving slowly and barely breaking the surface in order to blow. Also figured out that the ‘puffins’ from yesterday were in fact shearwaters! I like to think it is an easy mistake to make when they are roosting on the water but in fact there is almost no similarity between the two species! So the question for today must be: where have all the puffins gone?

Zulu (Zulu: isiZulu) is the language of the Zulu people with about 10 million speakers, the vast majority (over 95%) of whom live in South Africa. Zulu is the most widely spoken home language in South Africa (24% of the population) as well as being understood by over 50% of the population
